Martyn Najman

A UK-qualified teacher with 25 years of experience in both the UK and international education systems, he has served as the Head of Languages at a prestigious ESF School for the past seven years. His teaching philosophy centers on fostering a genuine love for language learning, which enhances student engagement and leads to outstanding academic results. Specialising in secondary education, he possesses extensive expertise in MYP, GCSE and IGCSE curricula, as well as IBDP and A Level courses. He specialises in teaching French, Spanish, German and Dutch and has also taught all Humanities subjects at MYP as well as the Global Perspectives GCSE course.

Will Wong

Maths and TOK
IB HL and SL, A-Level, MYP and GCSE Specialist

Will is UK-qualified teacher with over 15 years of experience in both the UK and international education systems, he currently serves as the Deputy Head of Maths at an international school, coordinating MYP Maths and junior competitions. He holds a first-class honors degree in BSc Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics, and Economics, as well as an MA in Educational Innovation.
In addition to his experience teaching SAT, ACT, AP Maths, IGCSE, and A Levels, Will specializes in all four IB Mathematics courses, including Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (AA) and Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation (AI) at both HL and SL. Alongside teaching Maths, he supervises Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essays (EE), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS).
As an IB Examiner and Workshop Leader for maths teachers, Will is dedicated to breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps and sharing unique examiner tips. He provides valuable insights that help students succeed and loves witnessing them achieve their goals and experience those transformative “aha” moments.

Joe Wariner

A UK qualified teacher, Joe has been an international educator for 25 years. His
career has encompassed Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, Libya and Mongolia, as well as
England. Having occupied positions including; classroom teacher, Head of
Department, Education Department Advisory Teacher and Teacher Trainer, he is fully
conversant with IBDP, A Level, GCSE/IGCSE, HKDSE, Cambridge, IELTS, TOEFL,
TOEIC and TAFE.

English Language, Literature, History and Humanities are his areas of expertise. A
highly qualified practitioner, Joe’s commitment to quality and encouraging positive
learning habits are reflected in both results and his holistic approach to the student
experience.

Ian Boyce

English Language and Literature and Media Studies

IB HL and SL, GCSE, A-Level and MYP Specialist

Ian has been teaching English and Media Studies for 30 years. He has taught successfully in a range of state schools in the UK, as the Head of English in a French International school for 6 years and as a Head of Year 12 and 13 for 9 years in a large UK comprehensive. He is now based at an ESF international school in Hong Kong.
Ian loves teaching and believes in the importance of developing communication skills of all kinds in English Literature, Language and Media Studies. His results are outstanding at all levels and just as importantly students enjoy his lessons. He teaches GCSE, MYP, A Level and IB Diploma.

Matthew Fowler

Maths and Extended Essay

Matthew Fowler has been teaching mathematics in secondary schools since 1994, and has been Head of Maths in The UK, at GEMs World Academy in Dubai and ESF Island School Hong Kong. He is currently teaching at German Swiss International School Hong Kong. Matthew has taught all levels of Mathematics including A level (Maths and Further Maths) and IB diploma Standard and Higher Level.

Daniel Stroud

English
GCSE, Phonics specialist

A dedicated and experienced educator from South Africa, he has been shaping young minds in Hong Kong since 2013 as a Native English Teacher with the EDB. Primary school trained with a PGCE and TEFL certification, and as a registered teacher, his primary focus lies in the crucial early literacy development of Key Stage 1 students. He is particularly passionate about fostering a strong foundation in phonics and cultivating a love for reading in Primary 1 and 2. Beyond the classroom, he has also guided Primary 6 students through secondary school interview preparation and mentored students for the Speech Festival Competition, demonstrating a commitment to holistic student development.
